• Survivability in next-generation optical networks

1. Proposed a new quality-of-service (QoS) metric for availability-aware multi-path connection provisioning (e.g., for Ethernet/data over SONET/SDH).
2. Analyzed this new metric and proposed algorithms for provisioning.
• IP Resilience

In-depth review of various proposals for providing fast and efficient resilience within an Autonomous System of IP routers.

• Impairment-aware routing in an all-optical network

Research in collaboration with Fujitsu Labs. of America, Sunnyvale, CA. Investigating connection provisioning in an optical network in the presence of physical-layer impairments.

• Provisioning in dual-node interconnected SONET/SDH rings

Research in collaboration with Fujitsu Labs. of America, Sunnyvale, CA. Investigated routing to avoid fragmentation. Explored benefits of Virtual Concatenation.
