Abstract

We evaluate the current security state of the Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) technology, investigating the MMS message, the MMS Relay/Server, and the links between the entities in the specification and implementation on different service providers. We examine the possibilities of mounting attacks such as worm outbreak, denial of service, and identity thief on the critical MMS infrastructure. We also present our findings with both practical testing and simulation to validate our results. Finally, we offer our solutions in mitigating these vulnerabilities.
