Important:
Be sure to complete the checklist at http://www.lugod.org/if/ so we can get an idea of how many people are coming and be aware of what software needs to be available.
What is an Installfest?
Linux Installfests are a great way to install Linux on your computer. You bring in your computer to 1131 Kemper and a group of experienced Linux users help you every step of the way. Ask any questions that come up along the way-- no more dead-ends or guessing. Best of all, the Installfests are absolutely FREE!
The Linux Installfests represent a joint effort between the CS Club @ UC Davis and the Linux User Group of Davis (LUGOD).
When are the Installfests?
(Excerpted from LUGOD) Installfests are generally held on the 3rd Saturday of odd-numbered months (January, March, May, July, September and November), and the 3rd Sunday of even-numbered months (February, April, June, August, October, December).
Installfests are day-long events, taking place from 10am until around 6pm (depending on attendance). Upcoming events are listed below:
*Sunday, January 22nd, 1131 Kemper
Please arrive on time. We like to stagger when installees arrive, but if you arrive past 3pm, we cannot help you.
Typically, installing Linux from scratch takes about 3 hours. However, be prepared to spend the entire day.
