Bylaws of the Computer Science Club @ UC Davis Article I: Organization Name and Purpose 1. This organization shall be called the Computer Science Club @ UC Davis. It will also be known as the CS Club or the CS Club @ UC Davis. 2. The purpose of this organization includes: a. A forum for the interaction of members. b. Promotion of the computer sciences. c. A conduit for faculty-student interaction. e. Fund raising to support all of the Club's purposes. Article II: Membership and Eligibility 1. Any University of California, Davis undergraduate student can be a member. Article III: Officers 1. Positions a. The officer positions shall include a President, Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster, and a Public Relations Officer. 2. Terms of Office a. All officers shall be elected during the middle of Spring Quarter. b. From that point on, all newly elected officers shall shadow the previous officers for the remainder of the quarter. c. At the end of the Spring Quarter, the new officers shall officially assume their elected office. Article IV: Duties of Officers 1. The President shall: a. Chair, or appoint the chair for the meetings of the CS Club. b. Maintain contact with club sponsor and the University regarding the club's activities. c. Plan and prepare all meetings. 2. The Treasurer shall: a. Manage all financial transactions of the club. b. Balance and report account summaries to officers once a month, and to members once a quarter. 3. The Secretary shall: a. Record minutes of each officer meeting. b. Record minutes of each general meeting or appoint a member for the role. 4. The Webmaster shall: a. Design and implement a webpage for the club. b. Maintain and update the webpage at least once a week. c. Post all club meeting minutes and news to the webpage. d. Maintain all other electronic communications (mailing lists, newsgroups, etc) 5. The Public Relations Officer: a. Act as the Engineering Joint Council Representative for the club. b. Work with other clubs for joint events. c. Updates the members on all club activities and news. d. Open and Maintain communication with commercial enterprises. Article V: Club Sponsor 1. The Club Sponsor shall be a faculty member from the Computer Science Department in the University of California, Davis. 2. The Club Sponsor shall be responsible for the following: b. Promote student-faculty relationships. c. Be available to meet or communicate with officers regarding any club activities at the sponsor's convenience. Article VI: Committees 1. All members can introduce and be apart of any committee. 2. Each committee must be recognized by the officers and approved by a majority vote during general meetings. 3. A committee must have at least one member and keep in regular contact with at least one officer. 4. Some Possible Committees: a. Picnic Day Event Arrangements b. Movie Night Events c. Fund Raiser Events d. Technical Tutorials e. Faculty Presentation Events Article VII: Meetings 1. General Meetings a. General Meetings will be held at least once a quarter. All members can attend. 2. Officer Meetings a. Officer Meetings must be held at least once a month. Only officers can attend. 3. Committee Meetings a. Committee Meetings will be held regularly based on need. Any member can attend. Article VIII Amendment and Voting Procedures 1. All proposed changes to the bylaws will take affect immediately upon a two-thirds majority of a general meeting. 2. Any major decisions must be approved by a majority of votes during general meetings. Article IX Dissolution 1. Dissolution of the UCD CS Club may be approved by three-fourths majority of a general meeting and unanimous agreement of all officers. 2. Any and all assets shall be transferred to the UCD CS Department.
